Turning to her genius inventor fiancée for help, his only suggestion was for her to don a bulky experimental environment suit that might contain her fluctuating energy. The beautiful Madeline refused to be imprisoned in the genderless armour. But then, tragically, an explosive release of energy killed her beloved boyfriend!
Horrified by her own powers, Madeline donned the massive armour shell and took the name of Iron Maiden, swearing to atone for what her vanity had caused.

Unfortunately the armour they built required so much power that the batteries ran out after it had taken only 3 steps! But when Lt. Hank Manning was struck by the mysterious Energy X he became a human dynamo, generating enough electicity to power the hulking machine indefinitely. And so, Tankman was born!
